The Guelph Youth Music Centre is thrilled to present “Fay & Fluffy, a Drag Storytime and Singalong” on Saturday, June 15 at 10:30 a.m. in association with Guelph Pride and the Children’s Reading Room.

With some big wigs and wild and colourful outfits, Fay & Fluffy bring lots of sparkle to every show, getting kids excited to read, learn, and laugh. Drag stars Fay Slift + Fluffy Soufflé have been doing drag storytimes since June 2016. Their special events focus on books and songs, and include lots of laughs to show that Reading is FUN-damental! They especially want to support families with LGBTQ2S parent(s) and gender variant children. The performance includes culturally diverse books and provides a supportive and inclusive environment focused on fun for everyone!

In 2022 their television show The Fabulous Show with Fay & Fluffy began airing on Family Jr, now also airing on Family. The show invites young audiences to watch their storytime cabaret for kids and families; inspiring a love of reading and encouraging messages of choosing kindness and empathy towards one another through community, story, song, and silliness! They have now finished filming a second season, to be aired in the Fall.

JP (Fay) + Kaleb (Fluffy) are drag performers and experienced child educators. By day, JP is an educator with the TDSB. Kaleb is currently an independent Cultural Producer (DJ, performer, event host…), as well as a childcare provider working as a “manny” for years. Kaleb runs a home daycare called the Trail Mix Playgroup (cuz we’re a little nutty, but we’re good for you).

With a commitment to inclusivity, the GYMC aims to foster a welcoming environment where individuals of all backgrounds can immerse themselves in the arts. The GYMC strives to offer diverse programming and provide Guelph families with affordable or complimentary performance events that  provide young audience members the opportunity to learn and grow through the arts. Admission to this event is free of charge, however tickets should be reserved in advance as there is limited capacity.

This special event is made possible by the support of the Ontario Arts Council. To reserve your seat, visit: https://gymc.simpletix.ca/ For more information visit gymc.ca or call 519-837-1119.
