Man arrested for shooting BBs at vehicles, causing $13K in damage

A man faces mischief and weapons charges after several vehicles were shot with a BB gun, including one that was being driven at the time.

On Friday police were notified of several vehicles with broken windows and dents in an apartment building parking lot near Speedvale Avenue West and Kathleen Street. Another complainant said he was reversing his Ford F150 out of his driveway when he heard several impacts on the top and back of the truck. Officers located a brass-coloured BB on the street nearby.

The total damage is estimated at more than $13,000.

While investigating, officers located more brass-coloured BBs in the parking lot and below a balcony. A male was stopped as he left the building and officers recovered two loaded BB guns, carbon dioxide cartridges and more than 6,000 BBs which matched the ones found outside.

A 26-year-old Guelph man is charged with possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, pointing a firearm, careless use of a firearm, assault with a weapon, mischief over $5,000 and mischief under $5,000.
