A Cambridge man faces several charges after someone broke into a Guelph law office Friday night and set it on fire, say Guelph police.

Just after 9 p.m. police were called to an address on Woolwich Street north of downtown. A witness reported a male smashed several windows and wrote on the exterior of the building in orange spray paint before gaining access to the building. Several full cardboard file boxes were set on fire before the male fled.

The Guelph Fire Department attended and extinguished the flames.

A man was located in the area and arrested. A 44-year-old Cambridge man, who is a former client of the law office, is charged with arson, break and enter and mischief under $5,000. He was held for a bail hearing.
