The Township of Centre Wellington has received an application for a zoning by-law amendment in order to build a retirement residence and its associated uses at 820 St. David St. N. in Fergus.

The proposed retirement residence is six storeys long with a height of 18 meters. It would consist of 80 units.

A numbered company, Mississauga-based 2407484 Ontario Inc., is the official applicant.

The proposed amendment seeks to change the current zoning to commercial exception from its current status of commercial C2.

The land is currently vacant.

The required public meeting on the proposal was recently held and the application will now wind its way through the planning process before the township decides whether or not to grant the amendment.
