Helen passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2020 at the Elliott Community in Guelph, at the age of 74 years.
She was the dear sister of Alan Simpson (Sheila Rice-Simpson) and Mary Simpson (Kevin Morris). Helen was the much loved aunt of Emily (Jon), Andrea (Jason), Michaela (Michael), Christine (Michael) and Amelia (Clarke). She delighted in watching the world through the eyes of 11 great nieces and nephews.
Helen worked at the University of Guelph for many years, prior to her retirement. Although she lived with Multiple Sclerosis most of her adult life, she did it with great courage and dignity and did not allow it to define her.
Our thanks to all of Helen's caregivers at The Elliott Community and to Dr. Spadafora, for all their care and support, especially during the past six months. You are our heroes. Special thanks to Friends of the Family, to dear Laura in particular, who brought such joy and pure fun into Helen's life. We are forever grateful.
A memorial service will be held for Helen on Wednesday, September 30th at 2:00 p.m. at GILCHRIST CHAPEL – McIntyre & Wilkie Funeral Home, One Delhi Street, Guelph. The family will receive guests for one hour prior to the service. Should you wish to attend the visitation and/or service and have not been directly invited by the family, please phone the funeral home at 519-824-0031 to enquire about space. Please understand that we will be following social distancing protocols due to COVID-19.
Masks are required inside the facility. We ask that you do not visit if feeling unwell or have been in contact with someone who has tested positive for Covid-19 and further ask that you respect the direction of the funeral home staff. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the MS Society or to the charity of one’s choice.
