Of Guelph, died suddenly on Monday, December 2nd, 2019 at Guelph General Hospital. Darko was born on November 21, 1961 in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. While living in Sarajevo, Darko studied Graphic Design and worked as a photographer at the advertising agency “Ossa”.

Both he, and his family, were graciously sponsored by Harcourt Memorial United Church 25 years ago when Darko moved to Guelph. Since then, Darko worked as a custodian at Harcourt, dedicated to the maintenance of the property but also being a friend to all whom he met there.

A unique soul, Darko was very funny, and enjoyed joking around with everyone he met. He was well known for his passion for sports, particularly soccer and basketball. When Darko was not on the field or court with his friends, he was at home spending time with his family. Darko’s smile was contagious and touched the hearts of even those who did not know him personally. He was an advocate for environmentalism and animals.

Darko is survived by his wife Amila, daughter Mia, and son Adrian. He will be dearly missed by his sister Ljerka (Davor Kuslev), and brother-in-law Adnan Uzunović. Cherished uncle of Boris, Emir, Marina, and Samir. Darko’s cousins and friends will miss him dearly. Darko is predeceased by his father, Josip, and mother, Borka.

A memorial service will be held at Harcourt Memorial United Church on Saturday December 14th, 2019 at 10:00 am. Arrangements entrusted to the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 519-822-0051. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Darko’s name to Lung Cancer Canada
