John Albert Freeman, 78, of Guelph, Ontario, passed away peacefully on
Saturday December 14, 2019 after a long battle with progressive
supranuclear palsy.
John was born in Toronto Ontario, June 27, 1941. He graduated from York
University with the second highest grade in the country for his graduating
year in accounting.
John was married to Kathleen Brock June 19th, 1965. They were married 54
years.
John spent two years in the Canadian Navy out of high school before
returning to York University. He had many interesting job titles
throughout his life. From controller at Suncor to Director of Finance at
the University of Guelph, to co-founder and CEO of Cinema 1 inc. along
with his son Brent and Alan McCrae. He also started the software company,
Softkey with Kevin O'Leary (Yes, that Kevin O'Leary). John was also a
small aircraft pilot since 1976. Up until recently, he was also actively
involved in Calvary Baptist Church.
John is survived by his wife Kathy, son Brent, his beautiful grandchildren
Myra, Samuel and Presley as well as his brother Bert and his wife Carolyn
and nieces and nephews Kelly, Tracy, Robert and Richie.
John is preceded in death by his father John and mother Lily.
The family of John Freeman wishes to thank the wonderful psws at

Visitation will be held at Gilbert Macintyre & Son, Hart Chapel, 1099
Gordon Street, Guelph, on Tuesday December 17th from 2-4 and 7-9. The
funeral service will be held at Calvary Baptist Church 454 Arkell Road,
Guelph, on Wednesday December 18th, 2019 at 11 a.m. Pastor Dave Peterson
of Calvary will be officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may
be given to the PSP Society of Canada. (pspsocietycanada.ca). Donation
