Linton Nancy use
It is with heavy hearts that we, Nancy’s family, share the news of her sudden passing to our community; a place that she called home for the majority of her life. Nancy passed away at the Guelph General Hospital on Tuesday, February 25th, 2020 at the age of 71. Beloved wife of Wayne Linton. Devoted and loving mother to Jeff Linton and Amy (Bryan) Atkinson and beloved Nana to Henry and Johnny. Dear sister and close friend of Jude (Gib) Lovelock and Bill (Deb) Whyte and Marj Krikorian. Fondly remembered by her brother in law, Brian (Liz) Linton, many nieces/nephews, cousins, and close friends. Predeceased by her parents, Helen Eileen and Frederick Gartley Whyte.
Nancy married her best friend and loving partner, Wayne, on June 16th, 1973. They met at Wilfrid Laurier University where she completed her BA in Psychology. Over the course of 47 years, they created a life together that saw many adventures of travel with their children with a specific passion for the Canadian landscape. Nancy loved the outdoors and spent many summers with multiple generations of family on Smoke Lake in Algonquin Park. Nancy was a natural athlete that played badminton, golf, and in later years pickle ball. In high  school Nancy was also the recipient of the award for athlete of the year at John F. Ross.  She was a die-hard Blue Jays and Toronto Maple Leaf’s fan. She was the most dedicated friend to those who had the privilege of spending time with her over the course of her life. She looked forward to attending weekly bridge club, breakfast club, and cottage escapes with her friends and family members. She put others before herself daily and lived life being thankful for those who surrounded her, she called these people her village. In 2011, Nancy welcomed her first of two grandchildren (Henry, then Johnny in 2013) and became known as Nana. Her love for her grandchildren was seen and felt daily by endless hugs, kisses, and special treats that she provided, especially gum!
Nancy’s sense of humour was contagious, and she always made space for the people around her to have a great time. We will miss her wit tremendously alongside everything else that made her so very special to us all. You have left before your time, but our memories will forever be timeless.  A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, March 1st, 2020 at the Guelph Country Club, 133 Woodlawn Road East, Guelph  from 1:30 pm – 4:30 pm with family remarks at approximately 2:30 pm. If so desired, memorial donations can be made to The Friends of Algonquin Park online at www.algonquinpark.on.ca/foap/donate/  Arrangements entrusted to GILCHRIST CHAPEL – McIntyre & Wilkie Funeral Home, One Delhi Street, Guelph, (519-824-0031).
