1927-2019
Passed away at his home, with his family by his side, on Saturday,
November 2, 2019. Loving husband, for 68 years, to Elaine Ann (née
Hinds), whose devoted care sustained him. Loving father to: David (Barbara
Thompson), Donnie (Patricia McKnight), Andrew (Eleanor Gang) and Mary (Len
Kocher). Predeceased by his son Alan, parents Murdoch and Mary Belle (nee
Cameron), loving sisters Isabel, Claire Grace, Cathy Farrel, and brothers
Rodney and John.
His legacy continues through his many grandchildren and
great-grandchildren: Laura (Trevor Pickering), Luke, Michael (Ceria); Ryan
MacDonald, Kali; Sarah Thalassinos (Jimmy), Livianna, Jonathan Donald,
Alexandra; and Ilana and Cameron MacDonald. Gratitude is expressed to his
devoted nieces Cathy, Corinne and Kim, and Sue, friend of Alan. Don will
also be sadly missed by his sister-in-law, Marjorie Muller and his
brother-in-law Norman Hinds.
Don was born in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. A millwright by trade, Don could
repair anything and always found creative solutions to problems. He and
Elaine encouraged their children in the pursuit of higher education. Don
practised true Christian charity in everything he did. He loved the
Toronto Blue Jays and watching golf, when he could no longer play. He and
Elaine enjoyed many winters of their retirement in Florida.
Special thanks to his caregivers provided by LHIN - Bayshore nurses Kelly
and Cathy and Care Partners Chantel, Patricia, Krista and Jacqui; the
staff at Guelph General Hospital and the many others who made Don
comfortable.
The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph's Church, 409 Paisley Rd.,
Guelph, on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at 11 a.m. Interment at Our Lady
Immaculate Mausoleum, Marymount Cemetery, at a later date. Donations in
lieu of flowers to the charity of your choice. Donation cards are
