Passed away peacefully on September 18, 2020 at the Elliot LTC (Guelph, Ontario) in his 82nd year. He was formerly a resident of Delhi, Ontario. Beloved husband and best friend of Mary Lou (Allin) for 57 years. Proud
and loving father of daughter Michelle Tobin (Tom) of Guelph and son Michael Moore (Amy) of Burlington. Proud grandfather of Kyra and Leah Tobin as well as Elly & Evan Moore. Also survived by siblings Richard
Moore (Mary), Janice Niwranski and Marg Gillespie (Peter). Uncle to several nieces, nephews and extended family. Predeceased by his parents Duke & Jeanette Moore, also brother in law Mitch Niwranski.
Born in Simcoe, Ontario and raised on a tobacco farm in the Langton area. He attended elementary school in Langton and High School in Tillsonburg
(Annandale). Russell Maynard graduated from the University of Western Ontario (UWO) in 1963 with a Bachelor of Arts with a business major in
economics. His first teaching job was at the Forest District High School (now North
Lambton) in the fall of 1963. Moving to accept a position in the business department at the Delhi District Secondary School (DDSS) in the fall of
1965. He later became the Business Director, a position he held for 20 years prior to his retirement in 1996. During his career at DDSS he had
the good fortune to have taught all the subjects the Business Department would offer and worked with 8 different principals during that time. His focus during that time was computing and the first computer arrived at DDSS in 1967 with it being one of the first schools in the province to have received one. By 1969 DDSS received their first IBM 360 with it being only one of two in the province at that time. Retiring from teaching
in 1996 after a 33 year career with 31 in Delhi. After living in town (Delhi), he bought the “farm” with his wife on Highway #3 and it is here that they continued their passion for gardening. He, along with his wife, attended various local farmer’s markets as a vendor for 31 years.
He always looked forward to the trips south for the winter and it was Palm Springs, California where they spent 18 winters. He was a proud member of the Delhi Masonic Lodge. A graveside ceremony will be held for immediate family members.
In lieu of flowers, donations to your local food bank or your local sick kids hospital in his memory would be appreciated.
