Passed away peacefully with close family at his side, at the Guelph
General Hospital on Friday, September 18, 2020. Shawn Michael Rissling age
53 years was the loving father of Tanner Rissling, Paisley Rissling and
Sage Rissling. Survived by his wife Jodi (Pomay) Rissling and will be
missed by his canine walking partners Dixie and Indie. Shawn was the
beloved son of Norma Jean (Jenner) Rissling and the late Arnold Rissling.
Shawn was the dear brother of Susan Rissling and Lori Rissling Wynn. He
was the dear uncle to Joseph Wynn. Shawn will be held dearly in their
hearts forever.

Shawn was a dedicated paramedic of 30 years and recipient of a Governor
General's Award for Exemplary Public Service in 2011. During the course
of his career Shawn worked in Peel/York, Halton, Missisauga, Guelph, and
Parkview. He is remembered fondly by his colleagues as a compassionate
and gifted paramedic.

The family would like to thank the mental health professionals and friends
in Shawn's life who quietly supported him in his final years. Your
kindness will not be forgotten.

Respecting Shawn's wishes, cremation has taken place. A graveside service
will be held at the Woodlawn Memorial Park, Guelph on Friday, September
25, 2020 at 2 p.m. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Boots on the
Ground, Peer Support for First Responders, https://www.bootsontheground.ca
or to Alcohol Anonymous, Guelph would be appreciated by the family.

Donation cards are available at the Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home,
Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St., Guelph or online.

Due to Covid-19, attendees are asked to RSVP on the funeral home website
prior to attending the graveside service. Masks must be worn and social
distancing protocols must be observed.

Paramedics and First Responders put themselves in harms way everyday for
our communities never knowing what a day on the job is going to look like,
often at the expense of their own mental health. Please remember to
honour their contributions and thank them for their service whenever you
can.
