Warren Douglas MM

Passed away unexpectedly, surrounded by his loving family, at Guelph General Hospital, November 1, 2019, in his 74th year.

Beloved husband, best friend, confidant, “Papa” to her “Jany”, travel buddy, and soulmate to his devoted wife, Penny Jacobi-Warren.

Loving father of Jacquie (Peter), Robbie (Linda) and Jennifer (Markham).

Cherished Papa of Madlyn, Jackson, Tristan, Jacob, LeeAnn (Jeremy) and Hudson.  Loving brother to Larry (Anne), Donna (Roy) and Greg (Deb). Special uncle of godson, Glenn (Nancy), Susan (Darren), Bev, Steve (Pam), Shelby Anne (Brandon) and Jesse. Friend and brother-in-law to John Bright (Faye), Sandra Hilton (deceased) and Rob Hilton (Dana). Brother by choice to Glen McKellar. Loved by a large circle of friends. Predeceased by his parents, Irene and Reginald.

Doug had a long career in the business world with Chrysler Canada where he was respected and well-known for his innovative approach with creative business programs and customer service. Upon retirement, he and Penny moved from Guelph to Southampton.  A true animal lover and outdoors man who loved nature. He enjoyed boating, carpentry, gardening, birding, traveling, cooking, entertaining, volunteering, renovating, redecorating, building and, most of all, spending time with family and friends, both on the shores of the mighty Huron, at their lakeside retreat, and at their winter home in southern Florida.

Special thank you to the surgical team lead by Dr. Jahromi and the ICU doctors and nurses at the Guelph General Hospital.  We will be eternally grateful for your skill, compassion and care for Doug and our family.

A celebration of Doug’s life will take place on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 206 Norfolk St., Guelph.  Visitation will be from 12:00-1:30 pm. Service at 1:30 pm, followed by a reception.

A private burial will take place at Memory Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Guelph General Hospital Foundation or the Canadian Kidney Foundation.

A tree will be planted in memory of Douglas B. Warren in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest, University of Guelph Arboretum. Dedication service, Sunday, September 20, 2020 at 2:30 pm.
