On Jan. 6, 2020 at 5:15 a.m., a male youth began repeatedly kicking the door of a unit in a residential building located near the intersection of Willow Road and Silvercreek Parkway North in the City of Guelph. The repeated kicking damaged the doorknob and door jamb causing approximately $600 worth of damage.

The loud noises drew the attention of the adult male superintendent who directed the youth to leave the premises. [It is alleged that] the youth then began arguing with the superintendent, pushed him and attempted to punch him in the head.

Police attended the scene and located the youth a short distance away. During the arrest, the youth continually pulled away from officers and ignored verbal commands. After a short struggle, the youth was eventually arrested.

A 17-year-old Guelph male has been charged with:
    •    Assault
    •    Mischief under $5,000
    •    Resist arrest

He will appear in court on Feb. 26, 2020.
