29 people charged with impaired driving during festive RIDE campaign: OPP

The Provincial Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E) campaign has concluded and Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police led all OPP jurisdictions in alcohol related driving charges once again.

The Provincial R.I.D.E. campaign which ran from Nov. 23, 2019 until Jan. 2, 2020 is aimed at improving the safety of everyone on the roadways by removing those drivers who continue to drive while impaired.

The Wellington County OPP conducted 112 R.I.D.E checks throughout the campaign and charged a total of 29 people with impaired driving offences (including refusal to provide a breath sample) and 30 more people received warning range suspensions (50-80 mgs/100ml blood). 

The Wellington County OPP will continue to conduct R.I.D.E. programs throughout the year in an effort to combat impaired driving and improve traffic safety for everyone in Wellington County.
