Car found in ditch, driver charged with impaired

It was reported that the driver of a black sedan lost control of the vehicle, struck a guard rail and came to rest in the ditch on Highway 6

On March 2, 2020, at approximately 7:30 p.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police responded to a motor vehicle on Highway 6 near Side Road 5 in Centre Wellington Township. It was reported that the driver of a black sedan lost control of the vehicle, struck a guard rail and came to rest in the ditch.

Police spoke with the driver and determined that their ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol and they were placed under arrest.  The accused was transported to an OPP Operation Centre for further testing.

Christopher Raymond Hatton, 47-years-old of Fergus has been charged with impaired operation and impaired operation - 80 Plus (mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood). A 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice - Guelph on March 31, 2020.
