Two women were arrested Friday night after police say they spit in a woman's face and threw her to the ground following a road rage incident in a parking lot.

Guelph Police report that at 9:10 p.m. a vehicle with two women in it was driving in a commercial parking lot in the area of Woodlawn Road West and Woolwich Street.

Their vehicle almost collided with another vehicle backing out of a parking spot driven by an adult male. A woman in the front passenger’s seat of the male’s vehicle rolled down her window and advised the females that they needed to be more careful. The two females then exited their vehicle, approached the victim’s window and both allegedly spit in her face. The victim exited her vehicle and the females proceeded to both push her and throw her to the ground. The male then exited the vehicle, separated the females, helped the victim back in to their vehicle and drove away.

The females began following the male and the victim’s vehicle throughout the City of Guelph and police were contacted for assistance.

At 9:28 p.m., police located the females driving in their vehicle near the intersection of Eramosa Road and Woolwich Street. A traffic stop was initiated and they were subsequently arrested.

A 27-year-old Ridgetown female and a 33-year-old Guelph female were charged with assault.

They will both appear in court on Feb. 5.
