CRIME OF THE WEEK: Suspect sought in attempted fraud

The attempts happened at a pair of banks

On Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2023, two fraud attempts by the same individual occurred at two separate banks in the City of Guelph.

Both incidents occurred shortly before 5 p.m. whereby the suspect tried to deposit a fake cheque at each of the two branch locations. The first attempt was at a bank located in downtown Guelph and the second was at a branch in the west end of Guelph.

The suspect is described as male, approximately 5’8” tall, 150 lbs with an olive complexion and dark slicked-back hair. He had thin facial hair and a birthmark on his nose. The vehicle he was driving is described as a silver GMC pickup truck.
