Man charged after allegedly punching female clerk

Police say when the adult female clerk asked the accused to leave, he started to throw merchandise around the store

On Sept. 23, 2020, just before 11:33 p.m., an adult male attended to a store located near the intersection of York Road and Victoria Road South in the City of Guelph. The male had been trespassed from the store earlier in the day. When the adult female clerk asked him to leave, he started to throw merchandise around the store. After being directed to leave numerous times, he finally left. As he left the store, the clerk tried to lock the door behind him, at which point he reached in and punched her in the face. He then fled on foot.

At 11:57 p.m., police located the male under a nearby bridge. He was subsequently arrested.

A 29 year old Guelph male has been charged with:

  • Assault
  • Mischief Under $5,000

He will appear in court on Jan. 8, 2021.
