On June 6, 2018 at approximately 2:30 a.m., the Guelph Fire Department and Guelph Police Service were called to a Speedvale Avenue West address where there was a report of a fire. When emergency services arrived, a transport truck (no trailer) was fully engulfed. This fire quickly spread to adjacent transport trucks. The Guelph Fire Department was able to contain and extinguish the fire. In total, six transport trucks were completely destroyed. Total estimated value is over $500,000.

At this point, there does not appear to be anything suspicious about the fire, although the cause of the fire is unknown. The Guelph Fire Department Fire Prevention Officers remain at the scene and have notified the Ontario Fire Marshall due to the value of loss.

The westbound curb lane on Speedvale Avenue West between Lewis Road and Royal Road will remain closed for most of the morning as the Guelph Fire Department and Environmental Services cleanup.

There are no injuries as a result of this incident.
