Over the past 24 hours, the Guelph Police Service dealt with 222 calls for service

The following news releases were issued today by the Guelph Police Service:

Staff member assaulted at downtown hotel

On Jan. 4, 2020 at approximately 2:20 p.m. an adult female attended to a hotel downtown Guelph. The female had no reason to be there as she was not renting a room nor visiting anyone at the hotel.

[It is alleged that] the female became verbally aggressive with front desk staff before confronting a staff member in the stairwell.

The female then became physically aggressive, [allegedly] hitting the staff member several times before hitting her with a glass bottle and biting her hand. The staff member attended to the Guelph General Hospital with minor injuries. Police attended, located both parties and placed the responsible female under arrest.

The 32-year-old Guelph female has been charged with assault cause bodily harm and breach probation x3.

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing on Jan. 5, 2020.
