Guelph Police responded to 230 calls for service

The following news releases were issued today by the Guelph Police Service:

Male arrested for shoplifting $500 worth of merchandise
On Dec. 19th, 2019 at 12:40 p.m., the loss prevention officer of a grocery store located near the intersection of Paisley Road and Elmira Road South in the City of Guelph observed an adult male [allegedly] shoplift approximately $500 worth of merchandise including multiple cases of beer and meat items. The male left the area before he could be stopped.

On Jan. 6, 2020, a 42-year-old Guelph male was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000.

He will appear in court on Feb. 14, 2020.

Female arrested for failing to re-attend court
On Sept. 6, 2019, an adult female failed to attend court in regards to the following charges:
    •    Fail to comply with recognizance
    •    Breach probation

A bench warrant was issued for her arrest.

On Jan. 6, 2020, a 30-year-old Ingersoll female was arrested and charged with fail to re-attend.

She was held in custody pending a bail hearing on Jan. 7, 2020.

Electronics taken during commercial break-in
Some time over the past weekend, a business located in the downtown core of the City of Guelph was entered. Multiple electronics were taken.

Theft from vehicle
Some time overnight on Jan. 5, 2020, a vehicle parked at a residence located near the intersection of Waterloo Avenue and Edinburgh Road South in the City of Guelph was entered. Massage supplies were taken and a pair of coveralls was left behind.
