A 40-year-old Guelph woman has been charged with impaired driving and failing to remain at the scene of an accident after police say she hit three parked cars then drove off.

On Sunday around 9 p.m. police say the woman collided with the cars near the intersection of Clair Road East and Victoria Road South then drove off.

A few minutes later, police located the female standing beside her vehicle a few streets away. The front passenger side tire had been ripped off in the collision, heavily damaging the rim and causing the vehicle to skid along the road on its rim and sub-frame, ultimately preventing the driver from fleeing the area.

After speaking with the woman, she was subsequently arrested.

Her driver’s license was suspended for 90 days and her vehicle was impounded for seven days.

She will appear in court on Jan. 5.
