Guelph Lawn Bowling Club rolls out 185th birthday celebrations

Some 40 novice bowlers joined club members for a day filled with 'fun, laughter, and cake and ice cream'

It was a perfect summer day this past Saturday for the Guelph Lawn Bowling Club to celebrate its 185th birthday.

More than 40 novice bowlers, from young to older, came to came to the open house to try their hand at a new sport, according to a news release.

They joined club members on the greens for a day filled with fun, laughter, and cake and ice cream. 

Club president Blake Skinner presided over the official ceremony including the cutting of a big 185th birthday cake. The club was honoured to have a few special guests participate in the event including the Guelph MPP Mike Schreiner, Guelph Mayor Cam Guthrie, and Ontario Lawn Bowls Association president Ralph Ellis.
