Fans of classic rock music may recognize the Edgar Winter Group as the band that sang “come on and take a free ride” in their Top 10 hit, “Free Ride.” However, for drivers interested in taking a “free ride” on a new set of tires, look no further than the contest being offered by the two area locations of Dettmer Tire.
To counter the impact of rising automotive part prices, the popular tire and auto centre is set to launch a spring contest that will award one lucky winner a full set of brand new Bridgestone/Firestone tires valued up to $1,500.

“With the increase in the costs of everything automotive related we thought it would be a very well-received and useful time to offer the contest,” said Josh Adams, office manager at Dettmer Tire and Auto Centre in downtown Guelph. “It’s a goodwill gesture for our customers and a great opportunity to save money on a new set of top quality Bridgestones.”
According to Adams, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the automotive parts industry was significant. Spotty inventory and rising prices caused by the increased price of shipping products from overseas were the two major issues faced by automotive shops and their customers. While prices seem to have stabilized, Adams said there’s really no downside to winning a set of tires, especially when those tires carry the Bridgestone name.
“We’ve had Bridgestone/Firestone as a supply partner since we opened our Eramosa Road location nearly 30 years ago,” he said. “They’ve always had a very good track record and great response from customers when it comes to performance. They make a full-line of all-season tires for everything from sports cars to off-road vehicles so it makes for a great prize to win.”
With Dettmer Tire entering its 45th year of serving customers in Guelph and surrounding regions, Adams said it’s a good time to host the contest, which runs April 3rd through April 17th. The grand prize includes four new tires worth up to $1,500 including installation.
