Finance Minister Vic Fedeli  says that Ontario will be moving forward with expanded retail hours for alcohol sales.

Hours for alcohol sales will be extended at the Beer Store, LCBO and grocery stores from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m., seven days a week.

The government says it will also develop a plan to sell beer and wine in corner stores, but has not provided a timeline.

David Clement, Toronto-based North American Affairs Manager of the Consumer Choice Centre said, "Expanded retail hours for alcohol sales definitely benefits consumers. Expanding retail hours is a good first step, but there is still a lot that needs to be done to modernize Ontario's alcohol regulations. As we know from polling data, Ontario residents want increased access and for the province to move beyond its outdated model.

"Now that hours are expanded, it is time to allow for private retail sale in Ontario convenience stores, and to end the LCBO's monopoly on the sale of spirits," said Clement.
