Early Learning Educator – Resource Assistant
1 year contract – 1 day/week (up to 5 days/month – flexible schedule)
THRIVE is a non-profit Children’s Treatment Centre employing more than 50 employees; made up of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Speech-language Pathologists, Social workers, Rehabilitation Assistants, Early Learning Consultants, Early Learning Educators and Administrative support staff. THRIVE provides inter-disciplinary pediatric rehabilitation services, respite care coordination, an on-site child care program and resource support to community child care centres in Sault Ste. Marie and throughout the District of Algoma. Our philosophy of service delivery presents a family-centred approach and they are integral to effective intervention. If you are seeking a dynamic and challenging role in supporting the development of children and youth with a variety of physical, developmental and communicative challenges, THRIVE has a position for you. Using a strengths-based approach, you will join our experienced and dedicated professional staff to coach, guide and work collaboratively with staff in child care centres and before/after-school programs, to assist them to support and fully include children with special needs into their activities and learning opportunities.
We currently require an Early Learning Educator (Resource Assistant) to support Early Learning Resources Consultants, on a part-time basis (weekly), supporting child care centres primarily in the North District. As the successful candidate, you will have a diploma or equivalent in Early Childhood Education (as established by Association of Early Childhood Educators of Ontario – AECEO) and will be a member in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators. A valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle are required. Valid First Aid and Healthcare Provider C – CPR are requirements. The ability to provide services in both official languages would be an asset; especially in the Northern communities.
