Our family loves the month of October for many reasons. But the highlight for our kids is the final day of October – Halloween.
I’ve never been a big on Halloween, but my kids’ enthusiasm is infectious, and we’ve been enjoying Halloween crafts, baking, and home decorating over the last couple of weeks.
We also love to find nearby events that host family-friendly Halloween events, which offer a great excuse to get as much use out of their costume bin as possible.
Below are five local upcoming Halloween events to mark on your calendars.
Downtown Trick or Treating
Saturday, Oct. 27 from noon to 3 p.m.
Dress up in your costumes and enjoy an afternoon trick-or-treating throughout Downtown Guelph. Various businesses throughout Downtown Guelph participate in this fun and family-friendly event on the Saturday before Halloween. Families can start their journey at one of three locations: Guelph Public Library (Norfolk Location), The Handmade Den (Wilson St), or The Olive Experience (Upper Wyndham Street). Families will receive a quest map that details participating stores.
Halloween Slimetacular at Indigo Guelph
Saturday, Oct. 27 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Kids can come dressed up to Indigo, located at Stone Road Mall, and join a Halloween parade with other kids in costume. A colour changing slime station will be available, as well as giveaways and prizes.
Halloween Boo Bash
Wednesday, Oct. 31 from 10 to 11:30 a.m.
Bulldog Fitness located at 259 Grange Rd. (Unit 1) celebrates Halloween with their “Boo Bash”, a day-time Halloween event for preschoolers and their parents. The morning includes crafts, goodies, a costume parade, and more!
The Nightmare Before Christmas Experience
Oct. 25 to Oct. 31 weeknights 7 to 9 p.m., and Friday and Saturday 7 to 10 p.m.
Enjoy the jaw-dropping home display located at 20 Fox Run Dr. The show features music, lights, and life size displays of the hit characters from the popular movie The Nightmare Before Christmas. Donations are accepted and go to Beginnings Family Services, at Sweet Temptations Cupcakes will be selling themed cupcakes also.
Two Rivers Neighbourhood Group Post Pumpkin Promenade
Friday, Nov. 2 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Join the Two Rivers Neighbourhood Group for their popular Post Pumpkin Promenade, an evening that includes a walk through a maze of carved pumpkins, with music and dancing, hot chocolate, popcorn, and Ward swag. Families can drop of their carved pumpkin to be featured in the Promenade on Thursday at Noon. Details found in the event link.
