It’s hard to believe we’re only one week away from March Break, which runs from March 11 to 15 this year in Guelph. There’s always plenty of fun and activities throughout the city and surrounding areas during March Break, but finding these activities can take time and effort. This year I’ve put together some of the best events for families, so that you don’t have to.

Guelph Public Library: The GPL typically runs a variety of free and fun programs for kids of various ages. Events this year include: Mad Science, Mighty Monarch Butterfly with The Cambridge Butterfly Conservatory, Bingo, Pirate Magic Show, Bert’s Bubble Show,  Gardening for Kids, Applefun Puppetry, Eric Traplin, and more. Check the schedule for dates, times, and locations, some events may require registration.

Wellington County Library Branches: Beyond Guelph, there’s plenty of other undiscovered branches throughout Wellington County, and they’re all hosting some really fun special events and daily programs over March Break. Events include Face Painting, Wild Ontario Show, and family entertainer Owen Anderson. View March Break special events here, and daily programming here.

March Break at the Civic Museum: The Guelph Civic Museum is a great place to be over March Break, with fun daily programming for all ages. Events include An interactive workshop on the Two Row Wampum with Elizabeth Doxtater; Science Day with the Physics Department, University of Guelph;  Mini Me Puppets; Wacky Water with the City of Guelph Water Works Conservation Team; Time Travellers.

Downtown Guelph: Every year Downtown Guelph hosts a variety of family-friendly events over the week of March Break. The Bookshelf will be playing daily family favourites for $8; and weather permitting, free skating will be available Market Square. More details about events can be found here.

Waterloo Region Museum: The Kitchener-Waterloo Region has all kinds of fun events for families willing to drive to a different city. The Waterloo Region Museum is a fun and affordable place for a full-day of family fun, especially with their new space exhibit, and daily March break fun.

Cambridge Butterfly Conservatory: Each year the Cambridge Butterfly Conservatory hosts their fun-filled BugFeast during the March Break week. This year the BugFeast theme is Southwest, and tasty bug-filled treats will include whole roasted BBQ crickets, Scorpion dulce de leche Fudge, and Tortilla chips with queso and roasted ants. Samples are included in admission.
