NEWS RELEASE
GUELPH POLICE SERVICE
*************************
The Guelph Police Service has been receiving calls from the public with concerns that people are failing to follow physical distancing guidelines or are failing to self-isolate for 14 days after returning from travel. We recommend that members of the public with these concerns contact WDG Public Health at 1-800-265-7293. Further information can be found at https://www.wdgpublichealth.ca/.

On March 23, 2020, the Ontario government announced the mandatory closure of all non-essential workplaces effective March 24 at 11:59 p.m.. This closure will be in effect for 14 days with the possibility of extension as the situation evolves.

If a member of the public has a question with respect to which businesses are permitted to stay open, please utilize the resources available at https://www.ontario.ca/page/list-essential-workplaces and the Stop The Spread Business Information Line at 1-888-444-3659.

If you still have a concern after reviewing these resources, please call the Guelph Police Service at 519-824-1212 and we will assess the situation accordingly. Generally, we will start with educating those failing to adhere to the law and take progressive steps towards enforcement, if necessary.

The Guelph Police Service station located at 15 Wyndham Street South is closed for non-emergency services until further notice. In order to best protect our community and our members, please refrain from attending the station in person unless you have an emergency situation that cannot be dealt with over the phone at 519-824-1212.

For emergencies please call 911.

For non-emergencies please report online at www.GuelphPolice.ca or call 519-824-1212.
