With the staggering statistic that one in three women will experience violence in their lifetime and some regions in Canada seeing a 20 per cent - 30 per cent increase in gender-based violence during the COVID-19 pandemic, Royal LePage Royal City Realty decided they needed to do something to help.

They approached miijidaa café + bistro and Wellington Brewery to collaborate on a ‘Holiday Giving Box’ that would not only generate proceeds to support Guelph Wellington Women in Crisis but also the hard-hit local food and beverage industry.

One hundred and thirteen of the boxes created were purchased directly by Royal LePage Royal City Realty to gift to clients, with an additional 17 boxes made available to the public that sold out in a matter of minutes.

Jeff Morley, Broker of Record, Royal LePage Royal City Realty said of this incredible community effort. “To be involved in a local project such as this was a tremendous privilege and we are thrilled to have had the opportunity to support our local business and our local community during what has been a difficult time for so many.”

About the local business collaboration, Court Desautels, CEO of The Neighbourhood Group, had to say: “Collaboration like this is what embodies the meaning of community spirit in Guelph and we’ve been so fortunate to work alongside such great like-minded companies to help GWWIC continue to do their incredible work.”

Wellington Brewery was equally excited with Karyn Boscariol, Community Outreach, stating: "Wellington Brewery's commitment to supporting the community is at the forefront of what we believe in. That, and delicious craft beer!  Thanks for allowing us to be involved in this important initiative."

All parties are excited to announce that sales of the ‘Holiday Giving Box’ raised $2,600; a collaboration box that included wine + cheese from miijidaa café + bistro and a selection of beer from

Wellington Brewery

An additional $860 was raised in direct donations from miijidaa café + bistro patrons through a program where guests could receive a $10 gift certificate in exchange for a $10 donation
