Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health said Monday that the COVID outbreak in Cargill’s meat processing facility on Dunlop Drive is now over.

As of Monday afternoon, Cargill’s Dunlop facility had 188 cases associated with the COVID-19 outbreak. All cases have been cleared by WDG Public Health.

“An outbreak is declared over 14 days after symptoms began in the most recent case and when no other cases are suspect,” said Danny Williamson, communications specialist at WDG Public Health.

“The date an outbreak is declared is the date the first confirmed case of COVID-19 was identified.”

Cargill’s Dunlop facility was subject to much public scrutiny after the COVID-19 outbreak declared late last year. It also temporarily shut down for nearly two weeks in December as the cases rapidly increased.

The Watson Parkway facility currently has 16 positive cases associated with an outbreak declared on Jan. 8.
