Two deaths, more cases at Arthur care home

ARTHUR – COVID cases continue to climb at an Arthur care home that has been in an outbreak since mid-December. 

As of Wednesday morning, data from WDG Public Health shows two deaths have been reported at Caressant Care Arthur–one each at the retirement home and long-term care wings. 

The total cases linked to the outbreak is at 65, with 23 residents and 12 staff cases at the retirement home and 14 residents and 16 staff at the long-term care home. 

Last week, the homes had a combined total of 46 cases. Caressant Care Arthur remains the largest active facility outbreak in the region. 

The outbreak was first declared on Dec. 12 at the retirement home and Dec. 26 at the long-term care wing. 

Wellington North, the host municipality of the facility, has the highest active case rate per population in the WDG Public Health region.
