In 1991 I was looking for a six-month placement to complete my Master’s degree in Health Administration. I came to Guelph General Hospital, and I found a calling and a home. Many years later, I’m still here. I’ve had the privilege of working with so many dedicated donors and volunteers, working collectively to make Guelph a healthier place to live.

My role as CEO is varied, and includes working with our dedicated board, sitting as part of the Hospital’s Senior Leadership Team, leading our amazing Foundation team, and, of course, fundraising.

I have lots of opportunity to talk about the wonderful care provided at Guelph General. It’s always been easy for me to do. I know that tremendous things happen within these walls each and every day, and personal experience has made that even more clear. I don’t have the gifts to do what our dedicated caregivers do…but I get to work with our donors to give our team the tools they need to provide comfort and care, to diagnose and treat illness and injury, to change and sometimes save lives. That’s an honour and a privilege.

I’m dedicated to the profession of healthcare philanthropy, and am both a certified fundraising executive and one of about 20 Canadian Fellows in the Association of Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP). Giving back to the profession, I teach at AHP’s annual Fundraising Institute, and sit on a number of their committees.

On the personal side, my husband and I live downtown with our two sons and two dogs. I’m an avid reader (65 books last year!), an occasional runner, an amateur cook, and I volunteer my time as a board member of Innovation Guelph.
