Buon Gusto is proud to be a renowned fixture in downtown Guelph. We are privileged to host the community’s milestones and everyday moments with dependable service, and top-quality food and drink.
Buon Gusto means ‘good taste’ in Italian.
We strive to bring you the ‘good taste’ of Italy in all aspects of our restaurant. Located in the historic Victoria Hotel building in St. George’s Square in Downtown Guelph, Buon Gusto is warm and casual with exposed stone walls and a contemporary interior design. Although a casual environment, we welcome more formal events as well. Our selection of fine Italian wines and excellent service will ensure that your guests leave with a lasting impression. The quality of the food will keep you coming back. Buon Gusto is open every day for lunch and dinner.
Buon Gusto is situated in the heart of downtown Guelph, in the historic Gummer building. The stone building sits over St. George’s Square, in the centre of town. Our location is perfect for a day trip or night out in Guelph. During the spring, we construct our wood patio in front of the restaurant. Trees and planters offer a bit of shade and seclusion for our patrons, but the patio is also opened to enjoy the energy and events of the downtown streets. The patio is open daily, weather permitting.
As a locally owned business, our community is important to us. Buon Gusto supports local food suppliers and providers. We cook heavily with genuine Italian ingredients to maintain the authenticity of our cuisine; however, we feature drinks and ingredients from Guelph and Ontario producers whenever possible. We proudly support numerous local charities and events both large and small on an ongoing basis.
At Buon Gusto, we have a passion for keeping things simple. We use high-quality, often locally sourced ingredients. Our full bar features local craft beers, an extensive and reasonably priced old-world wine selection, as well as top-shelf spirits & classic cocktails.
Our woodburning oven, made in Reggello, Tuscany, is ‘il cuore’ (the heart) of Buon Gusto. We import tipo 00 flour and San Marzano tomatoes from Italy, to make our pizzas in the traditional Neapolitan thin-crust style, hearth-baking them at 900 degrees Fahrenheit for just 90 seconds. Our menu also features salads, pastas, and small-plate antipasti, made by following family recipes as well as traditional regional dishes. Our selection of ‘authentic but updated’ Italian desserts are made in-house.
