GuelphToday has received the following letter to the editor from a Guelph resident, Laurie Vos, who is concerned about a safety issue in the upcoming election:

With elections hovering in the near future I am going to share a pet peeve of mine.

Election signs.

Can we make some rules that limit the amount of election signs that are put up?

You drive down a street and see numerous signs only a few feet apart for the same candidate. In the last municipal election it was terrible. In our neighbourhood someone put up a sign at the northeast corner of Glasgow and Nottingham.

It was placed right at the edge of the northeast corner and impeded vision for drivers pulling out. I moved it back a couple of feet to make it safer and the next day two signs were there. One on either side of the sidewalk.

I know that election signs are a part of the process but can we please have a few enforced rules about the placement of them?
