GuelphToday received the following letter from Emily Alzaidi Zheng of Guelph & Area Right To Life.

Our volunteers peacefully and prayerfully hold signs reading, “Pray to End Abortion” and offer pregnancy support resources.

We strive to interact with others in truth, patience and kindness and yet hostility towards our peaceful pro-life advocacy, including multiple physical assaults and the use of derogatory language is increasing in Guelph.

We understand that our opinion regarding respect and protection for every human life is not held by everyone. However, this doesn’t justify physical assault or disparaging language towards us.

Thankfully all of us living in Canada have charter and constitutional freedoms to speak our minds, express opinions and hold peaceful demonstrations in the public square. It is imperative that everyone understands that fact.

The rights of us all who live in a democratic country are in jeopardy if we do not uphold them for all, even those with whom we disagree.
