GuelphToday received the following comments from reader Kathy Stephens in response to a letter to the editor published over the weekend regarding some interesting interpretations in the closed captioning during a recent city council meeting:

Virginia,

I appreciate your humorous take on the mistakes on closed captioning.

And ... I need you to know that, even with the mistakes, closed captioning means everything to those who are deaf! Yes, we see the humour AND we are able to understand what is being said. Otherwise, we would not!

Perhaps you could consider seeing more than one side of closed captioning.

Your letter actually makes me feel sad that there is not more understanding for those who are hard of hearing.

Kindness and understanding make a huge difference in this life, especially these days!

Respectfully submitted,
Kathy Stephens
