LETTER: 'Keep the ideas and the coffee flowing'

'The last (Breezy Breakfast) met my expectations: the discussion of Guelph’s upcoming celebration brought out people with ideas; and people who would run with those ideas,' writes Brian Holstein.

GuelphToday received the following letter about the value of Breezy Breakfasts.

After attending my first Breezy Breakfast yesterday since the pandemic, I realized what I have been missing.

An attendee from the beginning, when Coun. Phil Allt and former councillor James Gordon first welcomed us, I have found the occasion an excellent source of news, ideas and opinions. It is to Allt’s credit that the meeting continued virtually throughout those years.

The last meeting met my expectations: the discussion of Guelph’s upcoming celebration brought out people with ideas; and people who would run with those ideas. The forward thinking that put this meeting together; to begin to plan for an event four years hence is not an unusual occurrence for this group.

Breezy Breakfast has served us all – directly or indirectly – for the past several years since March, 2016. He and Gordon had thoughtfully chosen an accessible downtown location where they – we – have met every Thursday morning for an 8 a.m.breakfast and discussion.

Hopefully Allt will keep this connection alive; keep the ideas and the coffee flowing.
