LETTER: Trucking companies do not belong in Aberfoyle

GuelphToday received the following letter from a concerned reader opposing a rezoning that would bring a trucking company to Aberfoyle.

Aberfoyle is currently on the brink of becoming an industrial hub. The wonderful community library and elementary school, the historical Mill restaurant and antique market, and the protected water sources will all be negatively impacted by the noise, smell, pollution, traffic dangers and congestion of a trucking company.

Trucking companies do not belong in small towns and hamlets. Industrial land should not border residences and green space. If the mayor and council allow this rezoning to proceed, they are letting down countless residents, children, and visitors who come to this town for its history and small-town charm.

Keep the dangers of trucks out of our town and, instead, encourage residential and commercial development that will benefit us all!
