PUSLINCH – A big piece of property in Aberfoyle is going up for sale after a North American shipping company is pulling out of the country.

Schneider trucking, a huge Wisconsin-based company with a property on McLean Road in Puslinch Township easily recognizable by the firm's bright orange rigs, confirmed late last week that they are closing all Canadian operations.

“Despite the dedication and best efforts over many years, Canadian-based operations do not fit within Schneider’s long-term strategic focus,” said Kara Leiterman, Schneider spokesperson, in an email statement.

Leiterman said this change will affect all 150 Canadian-based associates and drivers and the company is working with these workers during the transition.

“Company trucks and equipment will transfer to our US-based network to continue to serve our customers and as we proceed with the sale of the Guelph, Ont. property,” Leiterman said.

This is a 39-acre property located on McLean Road near Highway 401.

Leiterman did not give a timeline of the sale but said they expect Schneider will no longer have Canadian-based operations by the end of March.

Schneider's has said that it has nothing to do with new increased COVID protocols being placed on truckers at the border.

The Schneider website shows the company has been in business for 86 years, operates 180 properties worldwide and did almost $4.6 billion in operating revenues in 2020.
