Guelph’s youth performers showcase their talents at two performances at the River Run Centre on Tuesday, April 30 and Wednesday, May 1 at 7 p.m. during National Youth Week. The Co-operators Hall performances are presented as part of the TD Bank Group Youth Programs.

The two events are part of MusicWorks|StageWorks, a mentorship program organized by River Run Centre in partnership with Guelph Youth Council. Now in its seventh year, the program offers youth real-life experience in putting on a professional-style show, from concept development to performance.

The two evening performances showcase over 60 performers, from 19 different schools throughout Guelph and surrounding area. Members of River Run Centre’s technical, programming and promotional staff work with participants in preparation for the performances. The performers learn the essential elements of producing a show, such as, staging, flow, self-promotion, transitions and sound checks.  This season, Guelph musician Nathan Coles joined the team to mentor youth in the areas of stage presence and microphone techniques.

“Every year, we are amazed by the incredible talents and dedication the youth performers bring to the stage,” says Bill Nuhn, Manager of Theatres and Civic Events.  “They worked hard in preparation for these shows and it’s always exciting to have their energy at the River Run Centre. And we couldn’t do it all without the generosity of our Youth Programs Sponsor, TD Bank Group.”

Admission is free to each performance. Seating is general and on a first come basis.
