62-year-old Guelph man faces drinking and driving charges

CITY OF GUELPH, ONT. - On February 19, 2017 at approximately 9:29 a.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated the driver of a Nissan Altima on Victoria Road near Stone Road in the City of Guelph for a Highway Traffic Act violation.

While speaking with the driver, police detected the odour of an alcoholic beverage on his breath. A Roadside Screening Device test was conducted which resulted in a fail. The male driver was placed under arrest and transported to a local OPP Operations Centre for further testing.

62-year-old Nandor URBAN of Guelph has been charged with Over 80 Mgs contrary to the Criminal Code. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on March 24, 2017 to answer to his charge.

His driver's licence has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicle impounded for a period of seven days as per statute.
