Another blast of winter hits Guelph

Winter-like conditions will continue through the week.

A minor collision Wednesday morning appeared to be weather related, as this SUV left the street and ended up on the sidewalk.

Guelph got another blast of winter Wednesday morning, with snow flurries and below zero temperatures reducing visibility for motorists, and icing city streets and sidewalks, again.

A snow storm Sunday and into Monday morning dumped about 10 centimetres of the white stuff on Guelph and area, and had residents moaning.

So far, official spring has been unspring like, with freezing rain, heavy snow, and a return of cold temperatures. Things will get slushy and sloppy as the week continues.

Slippery conditions appeared to be a factor in at least one two-vehicle collision in downtown Guelph Wednesday morning, when a sport utility vehicle swerved and left Woolwich Street at Baker Street, coming to a stop on the sidewalk about a meter from a brick wall. A car at the scene sustained passenger side damage, while the SUV had a bent front tire and minor front-end damage.

Environment Canada is forecasting variable conditions for the next seven days, with a combination of snow and rain throughout the day Wednesday, with a low of 2C. A mixed bag is in-store again Thursday, with snow and rain, sun and cloud, a high of 4C and a low overnight of -3C.

There is a 30 per cent chance of snow on Friday, with the temperature dipping to -7C at night. There will be sun on Saturday and Sunday, with continuing cold temperatures, and rain and slightly warming temperatures on Monday and Tuesday.
