The Arboretum will be holding its annual expo and plant sale on Saturday.

The event takes place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the Arboretum grounds and in the Arboretum Centre.

The event goes rain or shine.

"The Arboretum Expo will consist of the plant sale on the west lawn outside the Arboretum Centre, tours of The Arboretum from knowledgeable staff and volunteers at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., tree climbing demonstrations at noon and 2 p.m., informative displays by The Arboretum and local environmentally focused organizations in The Arboretum Centre, a kids nature craft/activity area, live music and an award presentation from the Guelph Urban Forest Friends at 11:45 a.m.  There will be three different tours to choose from at each of the two times slots; a general tour of the Arboretum, a garden tour and a prehistoric plants tour.

The Arboretum Expo is a free event that provides the public with the opportunity to come and learn more about The Arboretum and what it is all about.

The plant sale features unique and rare plants produced in The Arboretum nursery and is the Arboretum Auxiliary’s largest fundraising event.

It historically draws people from across the province. Plants for the sale are cared for by dedicated Auxiliary members with staff and grown in The Arboretum’s nursery. All plant sale proceeds benefit The Arboretum and support its ability to continue to provide outstanding programs, gardens, natural areas and quality facilities enjoyed by local, national and international visitors year-round.

A list of the available plants is available on the Arboretum website.
