The University of Guelph's Arboretum is offering a beginner astronomy course starting next month.

The Planets, Stars, Galaxies and the Universe Workshop starts on March 5 and ends on April 16, running once a week from 7 p.m. to 9:15 p.m.

"Throughout this series of twelve lectures (two per evening for six weeks), the many wonders of the night sky will be explored," says a news release.

"The every day phenomena, such as night and day, seasons, and the motions of the earth, planets and sun will be explored. The origin and fate of the stars (and ourselves), including our own sun, the Milky Way, and our universe will also be probed."

The course is geared towards adults and there will be some outdoor star gazing as weather permits.

The course will be instructed by Trevor Chandler.

For more information call The Arboretum at 824-4120 ext. 52358.
