The Guelph Storm never recovered from a terrible first period Saturday night in Hamilton, eventually falling 5-3 to the Bulldogs.

It was Guelph's seventh straight loss.

The Bulldogs scored three times before the 17-minute mark to take the 3-0 lead. Nick Deakin-Poot got one back for Guelph before the opening frame was over.

Garret McFadden's power play goal at 11:44 of the second got the Storm within one, but Mackenzie Entwistle scored six minutes into the third period to restore Hamilton's two-goal lead.

James McEwan's goal at 8:32 of the third made it 4-3, but Hamilton scored into the empty net to seal it.

Michael Giugovaz made 29 saves for the Storm.

Guelph hosts the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds Sunday at 2 p.m.
