Mother of missing Kaden Young posts on Facebook that the search for her son 'has finally come to an end'

BELWOOD - The mother of a three-year-old boy missing for two months says the search has "come to an end" after the body of a small boy was found in the Grand River Saturday afternoon.

Michelle Hanson, whose son police say was swept from his mother’s arms after she accidentally drove into the Grand River near Orangeville  on Feb. 21, posted on Facebook that “two months of searching have finally come to an end” and that funeral arrangements are now being made for her son.

Police have not confirmed the identity of the body.

Wellington County OPP received a call around 3 p.m. Saturday that a person fishing had found a body beneath the Belwood Bridge, located 10 kilometres east of Fergus on Wellington County Road 26.

Wellington County OPP contacted Dufferin OPP, who have been coordinating the search for missing boy, a search hampered by ice on the river.

A Dufferin OPP spokesperson said the remains were sent to the coroner’s office in Toronto for an autopsy and no identity was officially released..

Michelle Hanson posted on the 'Bring Kaden Young Home' Facebook group early Sunday morning that funeral arrangements are now being made for her son.

The Facebook post reads:

“Good morning

We are wanting to thank everyone that has helped in the efforts to bring our Son Kaden home. It has been a long extremely draining two months of searching and now has finally come to an end. The amount of support was absolutely incredible and we really can’t thank everyone enough. Funeral arrangements are being finalized and I will post the details this coming week.”
