Call to police leads to impaired charge

CENTRE WELLINGTON TOWNSHIP – On February 24, 2016 at approximately 10:27 p.m., Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call about a driving complaint of a 2005 GMC in the Town of Fergus. 

An officer located the vehicle on Provost Lane and investigated the male driver. 

While speaking with the driver, police believed that he was impaired by alcohol and was arrested. 

He was taken to a local OPP Operations Centre for further testing.

His driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicle impounded for a period of seven days as per statute.

56-year-old Dale Saunders of Fergus has been charged with Impaired Driving and Over 80 Mgs contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

He is to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on March 25, 2016 to answer to the charges.
