CENTRE WELLINGTON - The county will play host to the 16th annual Canadian Fly Fishing Championships in June.

The event takes place June 6 to June 8 at a number of venues on the Grand River and Conestoga River, says a press release from the Canadian Fly Fishing Association.

There will be four river sessions and one pond bankfishing session. The bankfishing session will take place at the Upper Credit Trout Club.

"This promises to be an exciting event, bringing together competitive anglers and spectators from across Canada to share in and experience the fine waters of the area," says the release.

Opening ceremonies take place June 3 and the competition takes place from June 6 to June 8.

A number of charity events included in the championships will benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Centre Wellington.

The event is limited to 10 five-angler teams for a maximum of 50 participants.

Registration is currently open and closes Feb. 1. Teams can register at here.

Registration fee is $450 per angler.
