On August 27, 2016 at approximately 3:15 p.m. members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call regarding a break and enter in progress at a rural property located on Concession 11 in Wellington North Township.

The property consisted of several out buildings, a home under construction as well as the remains of a home that had been destroyed by fire.

Investigation revealed that the owner attended the property and observed some of his belongings in the laneway that had been in storage in one of the buildings.  The complainant then noticed a male sleeping on a wagon nearby and woke him up.

The male suspect stood up, concealed his face and fled into a near-by field.

Uniform officers set up containment while the Wellington County OPP Canine Unit tracked the suspect to a shed on a neighbouring property where he was taken into custody.

41-year-old Steven Boyce of Palmerston has been charged with Break and Enter into a Dwelling House and Commit Indictable Offence and Possession of Stolen Property Under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.  He was held in custody for a Bail Hearing.
